A linocut is a printmaking technique where an artist carves a design into a block oflinoleum, then inks the raised, uncarved areas and presses the block onto paper tocreate a print, essentially resulting in a mirror image of the carved design; the areas cutaway remain uninked on the paper, creating the negative space in the image.
