Robert Weil Estate Riesling Spatlese 2022

The Estate Spatlese is mostly made up of fruit from the hillside sites at a higher elevation, next to the top parcels, and well as the best fruits from Kiedrich Klosterberg and Grafenberg. The vines, grown on a combination of phyllite and loam, average 25-30 years old. The grapes are hand-picked after being left on the vines to ensure Spatlese level ripeness and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Aromatically the wine has much more intense, stone and exotic fruit notes such as melon and white peach, with a dusting of white chalk. On the palate, the wine has much more elevated levels of richness due to this riper state at harvest, as well as classical Rheingau acidity that provides a delicious balance.
