Our very favorite sea sponge! Not only are these sea sponges naturally a gorgeous chocolatey hue, but they are also the highest quality and most durable bathing sponge option available! These sponges are unbleached, whole (in their natural form, not cut), and sustainably harvested from the Gulf of Mexico. After being harvested from the ocean, sea sponges are traditionally bleached to a blonde or golden color for commercial reasons. However, the natural color of sponges is absolutely stunning ~ a beautiful array of tan and brown shades. Not only does bleaching alter the color of sponges, but it also impacts their quality since the sponge's delicate fibers and structure is weakened by the bleach. As a result, unbleached sponges are stronger, more durable, and (in our opinion) naturally more beautiful!
