The French Quarter Killers: A True Story of Murder and Scandal by the Detective Who Solved the Case

Booklist calls it "an entertainingly lurid walk on the wild side"; certainly the jacket copy is not shy about fluffing the author's role in turning around a case in which protected witnesses got killed during a drug kingpin's trial.  Someone may have tried to kill this book? The paperback is a bit rough at the corners and the cover is splitting on the top lefthand joint; the spine is cracked, and there's page toning. But it's perfectly readable, fits in a cargo pocket, and you can't beat the price.
