The Choshuzan factory became notable for producing Satsuma Dragonware, which features dragon motifs and incorporates moriage, a decorative technique involving the application of raised slip. Dragonware has a distinctive appearance with fine detailing and vivid colors. This style gained popularity during the Meiji period (1868-1912). This pair is a very fine example of dragonware produced by the Choshuzun factory. The vases are 6.5 inches tall and there is no damage.
