
The Hair Breader in Omdurman Painting- لوحة المشاطة في امدرمان
Inspired by the hair breading tradition, which was a profession for women to go to women's houses to bread their hair and still is a profession in the villages. The painting shows a woman breading the hair of a woman in her house in the 50s. They sat in the back yard near the kitchen's shade. The hair breading lady sitting on a traditional stool "بنبر" and the women her client in a floor mat made of breaded dry palm leaves "برش". At the background shows the wall of the kitchen built with clay and the shade made of wooden logs and dry straws with a pot made of dry pumpkin hanging on a breaded dry leaves hanger "مشلعيب". With the floor mat used for the women's smoking session "برش الدخان" handing on the wall. Behind them is a large wooden grounding pot "فندق" and beside them a clay water container "زير".
