Electron Configuration: Writing Electron Configuration
This lesson is written and intended to follow the first Electron Configuration lesson, Orbitals and Orbital Notation. Students must know sublevels, the orbitals contained in each type of sublevel, and how to write orbital notation before attempting this lesson. In this lesson, students will build on prior knowledge by writing electron configuration using orbital notation and the Aufbau Diagram. Then, students will learn a more efficient way to write electron configuration using the Periodic Table. Lesson Objectives: * Determine the total number of electrons needed to fully occupy each main energy level * Determine the electron configuration for elements using orbital notation and the periodic table Prior Knowledge: Able to write orbital notation for elements, ability to determine the number of electrons per sublevel, familiar with the Aufbau Diagram Lesson Duration: 1 class period Included in This Resource: * PowerPoint Presenta
