This lesson is written and intended to follow the lesson Writing Electron Configuration. At this point, students should be able to write orbital notation and electron configuration. Print & Digital versions of the lesson are included! The lesson is also differentiated for standard level and honors level classes. Students will build on prior knowledge of writing electron configuration and master writing noble gas configuration. The last part of the lesson is designed for honors level classes. The honors level lesson includes ion configuration, configuration exceptions, and f and d-block configuration. Lesson Objectives: * Represent an element by orbital notation, modified Bohr’s Model, and electron configuration. * Write the noble gas configuration for sample elements. * Determine the element by reading its noble gas configuration. * Discuss exceptions to the natural expected configuration. (honors) * Write electron configuration
