Well, this IS my grandmother‘s skillet and they made them so much lighter and smoother back then. Clara Bell bought her #8 three notch Lodge in the 40‘s before she left Tennessee to move north. This skillet sits on our stove top and will for a long time to come. This style, called the "blob" skillet style has a raised oval marking at 12 Oclock that looks like a blob, but was intentionally cast into the pan. They are collected because of this unique, short lived style of the three notch. Trust us on this one, if you haven‘t used a vintage Lodge (see back of pan heat ring for number of notches) you need to test one out. (testing not available, but you get what we‘re saying...)
