Well, this IS my grandmother's skillet and they made them so much lighter and smoother back then. Clara Bell bought her #8 three notch Lodge in the 40's before she left Tennessee to move north. This skillet sits on our stove top and will for a long time to come. Trust us on this one, if you haven't used a vintage Lodge (see back of pan heat ring for number of notches) you need to test one out. (testing not available, but you get what we're saying...) When we have pan events and meet folks handling restored vintage cast iron, the most common reaction is to how better the quality is once they pick one up. This pan sits flat and does not spin.
