(16.5cm), W 3 in. (7.5cm), D 3 in. (7.5cm) gold trim, translucent glazed, polychrome on crackled white, overall in very good condition! A small Satsuma vase with distinctive creamy beige crackled glaze, finely painted with elaborate polychrome blossoms and traditional Japanese motifs, highlighted with large and small butterflies in gold emboss, overlaid with two ribbon-wrapped panels of celestial immortals, fairies, sages and heavenly children appear to be gathering next to a pine tree, celebrating the good life with incense and offerings in two scenes. The painterly art and compositions are of topnotch, equally impressive are the variety of superb techniques that rendered the fine Satsuma motifs with enamel overglaze, through which the simple vase is brought alive and shines like a jewel.
