Pamphobeteus sp. ‘platyomma’ is a large undescribed terrestrial tarantula originally collected in Ecuador. This species is not known to occur in Brazil, despite the erroneously used hobby common name, 'Brazilian pink bloom tarantula'. Like many Ecuadorian Pamphobeteus species, the slings have an orange-red abdomen with a black 'Christmas tree' pattern. In addition to the ontogenetic color change, this species is sexually dimorphic with mature females possessing a dark brown/black color throughout the whole body, while males are bright pink upon maturity, especially their femurs.
