It’s aesthetically-inspired by Ang Lee’s 2012 film “The Life of Pi” (a film that’s a little clumsy in places but one I love so much it sometimes hurts), and its title comes from the closing line of Mimi Jennings’ poem “Madonna on her countless portraits,”—first published in The Christian Century; a poem I reread at least once a month.
