James Monroe was born on April 28, 1758 and was the last President of the so called Virginia Dynasty, because four out of the first five Presidents of the New Country were from the commonwealth of Virginia. Monroe attended college at William and Mary, but dropped out and became a "radical" to the British. His first act of rebellion was joining with some of his former classmates and raiding the arsenal of the British Royal Governor and then turning all the weaponry and supplies over to the Virginia Militia. He soon joined the Continental Army, becoming an officer in 1776 and was part of General George Washington's army at the Battle of Trenton where he was badly wounded.
