Spartan Sword Description The Spartan Sword is designed from ancient warriors in Greek Sparta. This sword is not a xiphos but was used by similar warriors.  The Spartan sword was generally used only after the spear was discarded for close combat. Very few original Spartan swords have survived.  This sword is thinner at the guard while the the blade curves on the edge, before curving back into the point. The blade is made of high carbon 1095 steel, designed in an antique style. The hilt is simple, complimenting the Spartan style. The guard is thick, with a downward curve across the grip to protect the hand. The handle ensures maximum grip and the pommel mirrors the guard.  Blade Materials This rapier sword is made from 1095 steel which accurately matches the very hard steel content of ancient rapier swords.
