#C221 - Size 31 Slate and Shell Set - Quince Bowls - Hyuga Hamaguri

This is a lovely go set, with high class go bowls (repaired) and slate & clamshell go stones. It comes with an original Japanese box. The box indicates that these are Hyuga stones, and shining a light through them confirms this - they have dense lines and an orange tone, well beyond the pale yellow of Mexican clamshell. The wood is Quince, a red/brown tone. They are XL size, please see the photos for measurements. Serious cracks were reglued, then they were fully refurbished; scrubbed clean, treated with Monkey Wax, and given 2 weeks to cure. The 180 white pieces are a Mexican clamshell, and a bit thicker than 8mm. The bright white clamshells have a variety of grades, please see the photos for details. They were soaked in h2o2 for 2 weeks before being rinsed with distilled water and buffed with iso-paraffin wax.
