This thick goban set came to Baduk Club from a consignment shop in Tokyo. The board is 20cm thick, which is incredibly large. It stands 32cm tall with 12cm legs. It comes with its original protective lid. It looks like Shin-Kaya, which is Alaskan Spruce.  It has a Shihou-Masa cut, which provides straight lines on all 6 sides. This is the highest-regarded cut for fine boards, and requires an enormous piece of lumber.  The corners and edges are in great shape, protected by the paulownia lid. There are some subtle signs of the boards quality including the raised lacquer grid, the navel, and the double shoulders on each leg.
