Senufo Stool
Description Today, most utilize this piece as a historic low to the ground stool, but we were astonished to learn that this work was used for everything ranging from a stool, to a table, to even ceremonial events for the Senufo people of the Ivory Coast. Furniture was extremely rare, and most often reserved for the elders of the tribe, so a piece this big would have served every function imaginable – both quotidian and sacred. The acacia wood (carved from a single tree trunk, no less!) has been smoothed out by its constant use.
