Zedist Cowie | Open Edition Print

This was painted for a tribute show for David Bowie upon his passing. I've been a lifelong Bowie fan. I used his Ziggy Stardust makeup to dress up a sweet little cow in the hopes that my viewers would see her as something other than a hamburger or glass of milk. Its my vegan activism at work, borrowing from Bowie to make a sacred cow.  Although she just goes by "Cowie" I have also heard her being called these other names when she is out galloping around in the grass with the other fairy princess cows: Cowie Bowie, Bowie Cowie, Holy Cowie, Sacred Cowie, Holy Cowie Sacred Bowie, Sacred Cowie Holy Bowie, David Cowie, Cowie Wowie, and a few others as well.  Give her a stroke on her big soft cow nose. It's really fuzzy. Cowie is a magical creature and a champion of cow rights everywhere. Please do not eat Cowie or think of her as a steak dinner, she is much more than that as you can see.
