Stereoscope Card by Charles Emery 1880, Forest Fire Sangre De Christo Range Colorado
Rare antique stereoscope card by master pioneer photographer Charles Emery. This 3d photograph is a cityscape image in a series he produced called "Views of Rocky Mountain Scenery, Scenes along the line of Denver & Rio Grande Railroad", I have several others rare Charles E Emery stereoviews listed too. The title of the photograph is on the back " Forest Fire on the Sangre de Cristo range ". This particular one is of a forest fire that was raging on the west side of the Sangre de Christo range near Silver Cliff Colorado. The scene silhouettes the town in the foreground with the looming smoke clouds menacingly towering above. This fire was documented by Charles Emery first hand as his photographs of this phenomena date this image to June 1880. Some of Charles E Emerys works are currently on exhibition at The Annapolis Collection Gallery, Annapolis, MD.
