Antique second state printing of Henri Toulouse Lautrecs "Oceano Nox". Originally designed by Lautrec for his cousin Desire Dihau who was a bassoonist in the French national orchestra as a music cover in 1895/96. Referred to as "at sea by night" this original lithograph is printed in brown-black ink on Arches wove paper. Signed on the stone with the artist’s monogram device lower right. A fine impression of Wittrock’s only state, this is plate IX of fourteen from the album Quatorze Lithoghraphies Originales de Toulouse-Lautrec pour Illustrer des Chansons. Published by A.C. Mazo & Cie., Paris, 1978; printed by Atelier Fernand Mourlot, Paris. The stone has since been cancelled and is on deposit at the Cabinet des Estampes at the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris.
