If you use 1 ball of yarn you will need to pre-cut the yarn so that you are using 3 strands at once.  I would recommend wrapping the yarn around something so they don't get tangled. The easier way is to just use 3 balls of the same color or coordinating colors and crochet all 3 strands as you go.   The completed scarf including the fringe measures about 5 feet long and 2.5 inches wide.
