Socks are the perfect project for knitting on the go. And nothing says “you’re special” like the gift of a pair of handmade socks. These socks are knit in the round from the cuff down. They have a traditional flap-and-gusset heel, and a flat toe. They feature ribbing on the leg and the top of the foot, a reinforced slip-stitch heel, and smooth stockinette stitch on the sole. While this is a great introduction to sock knitting for a beginner, this is also a pattern you can turn to again and again. Once you’re comfortable with the basic construction, use this pattern as a blank canvas for your own creative expression. Use your stash of leftovers to add stripes.
