Even though hermit crabs have become popular pets, they really are best left in the wild. They are not "hermits" as their name implies, they are very social and perfer living in colonies. Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua.
