Thermo Smart ARK Horizontal ATR (HATR) with ZnSe trough for liquids. Horizontal ATRs often use multiple reflections within the crystal. This design increases the signal since sample area (exposed to the IR beam) by bouncing (reflecting) within the crystal several times. This sampling method is often used for quick analysis, where the crystal can easily be cleaned between samples with lens paper and methanol. Fits all Thermo Nicolet FTIRs except the IS5 and Summit models.
