The RB-12 was designed by Ed at Red Beard Knife & Tool when a buddy of his needed a knife that would help him and his sons navigate the marshes, swamps, and backwaters of Louisiana. They had tried a few other machetes and "survival" knives but all of them fell short. When Ed was given the task of creating a work knife that his buddy could entrust the well being of him and his sons with he went right to work drawing inspiration from various sugar cane knives and machetes.
