Nintendo Game Cube The Nintendo Game Cube was released on September 14, 2001 in Japan and November 18, 2001 in North America. It sold for a price of $199 at release. It competed heavily with the Playstation 2 and XBOX. It was Nintendo's first console to use optical disks instead of cartridge games.
