
Wild Cherry Wand
This is a Wand is made from Wild Cherry wood, also known by the names of Gean or Mazzard, among others. While not as popularly discussed as other trees in the scheme of European folklore and magic, Wild Cherry does possess multiple folkloric attributions, ranging from healing, to divination, to witches, and as such, I believe it to be an underrated tree and wood in the Craft. After finding the storm-blown bough of a Gean, which grew from the gnarled remnant of a Nurse Log (held in particularly high esteem within the Wending Way for its union of Zoetic and Thanatic energies) I proceeded to cure, de-bark, and smooth the surface of the wood, while preserving the basic shape of the rod. Once I was satisfied with the texture of the wood, I went on to stain the piece using a pigment that I made from Black Tea and Black Walnut Shell, which gave the rod a warm, golden-brown coloration. Finally, on the evening of the First Quarter Moon, I conditioned the wood using a Blessing Oil of my own dev
