The Movement Tee
Watch companies didn't always make their movements in-house, the common practice was to purchase movements from manufacturers such as Lemania, Valjoux and even Jaeger LeCoultre. These manufacturers have now been acquired by other companies or are independent companies in their own right like JLC. As a result many vintage watches used the same movements, the Valjoux 72 was used in Daytonas, Heuer Autavias and Carreras, and Breitling Navitimers alike. It is regarded as one of the finest manual wound chronographs ever made. Another iconic movement is Omega's caliber 321 introduced in 1946. This was the movement used in the first Speedmaster in 1957, the movement that powered the Speedmaster that was approved by NASA in 1965. A little known but legendary movement is the JLC 920. This movement (in ebauche form) was used by the “holy trinity” of watchmaking in their most iconic models, in the first royal oak model 5402ST, in the nautilus 3700/1A and in the Vacheron 222. • 100% combed and ri
