Z1's Performance Heat Exchanger for the 3.0t (VR30) platform improves the cooling efficiency of the intercooler system, helping maintain consistent charge air temperatures for optimal engine performance. How does it work? On the 3.0t engine, the twin Garrett turbochargers feed two water-to-air intercoolers. These intercoolers have their own independent coolant system with the sole purpose of maintaining consistent charge air temperatures. Extreme conditions from drag racing, road racing, or even spirited driving produce excess heat. As intercooler temperatures rise so do charge air temperatures resulting in a loss of power and reduced engine performance. To deal with the excess heat Nissan elected to install a water-to-air heat exchanger behind the front bumpe
