
Antique Venetian Red Gooseberry Glass Beads CRBM_10584
These antique European glass gooseberry beads were manufactured in Venice for the African trade at the end of 1800s to early 1900s around the turn of the 20th century. Earlier versions of these beads were also traded in the Americas. The original gooseberry beads were made from canes of nearly clear colorless glass sometimes of yellowish and pinkish hues, usually with 8-12 colored stripes along the canes.
