Nanclares Y Prieto "O Bocoi Vello" Rias Baixas 2023

An incredibly special wine, and only second vintage being released, that is a favorite of Silvia's (that's her on the barrel). An exercise in old-school winemaking - coming from vines aged 25-95 years, the grapes are hand harvest and sorted, then foot tread to undergo a 2 day maceration, before being gently pressed. The juice then ferments and ages in massive 90+ year old 1900L chestnut barrels that Silvia reconditioned. Flinty and floral on the nose, with tart pomelo and juicy yellow pear notes. A saline tinged finish that never seems to end, all held together by that trademark vibrant acidity.[Kirk Sutherland]
