MASTERCLASS featuring António Marques of Serradinha
On Thursday, October 17th, we’re hosting António Marques da Cruz, the winemaker and owner of the small 7 hectare Serradinha estate in the town of Leiria about halfway between Lisbon and Porto. The Cruz family have maintained the estate since 1890 but Antonio was the first in his family to make wine his full time career. In 1994 Serradinha became the first winery in Portugal to be certified organic. He tends to make lower alcohol wines which run contrary to the wines most associate with Portugal, and yet his wines are some of the most profound and age-worthy we've encountered. We'll be featuring a few of his library releases for this event. Direct Press members will be familiar with the ladybugs he personally glues on top of each cork. António's wines have been in two of our wine clubs recently, in our feature on small producers and our deep dive on Portugal, where we featured a wine from his COZs collaboration with Tiago Teles. There will be only 12 tickets available for purchas
