Vom Boden's Stephen Bitterolf launched the Vineyard Project line of his import company in 2019 as a means to "connect soulful yet overlooked vineyards with soulful growers" in Germany and Austria. The fourth rendition comes from Burgenland's Gober and Freinbichler.   Domink Gober & Gerald Freinbichler met while working in the cellar of Franz Weninger, where the two honed their skills and eventually branched out to start their own winery in 2015. They now own a converted 1,000 square-foot garage winery, and farm some small plots of Blaufränkisch, which this wine comes from, that they are trying to restore to optimum health. A pleasantly lighter expression of Blaufränkisch that is perfect for this transitional weather. A playful, fun nose of black cherry and allspice pops out right away, while the palate is more focused on berry fruit, tomato and sage. Juicy and easy-drinking, but with just enough tannin to hold up to some richer foods. This is a great companion for those last days
