Albert Boxler 'Edelzwicker' Reserve Alsace 2021
In 1673 Jean Boxler came from Switzerland to Alsace in to establish the family domaine. Generations later Jean Boxler's descendant of the same name is the steward of this humble and very thoughtful winery. Intense and serious about his land and his craft, Boxler makes racy, structured, and long-lived wines thanks to their grand cru vineyard holdings in both Sommerberg and Brand. The blend for their Edelzwicker changes every vintage. The 2019 is composed of Sylvaner, Pinot Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, & Riesling. This elegantly silky, voluminous wine has subtle aromas of honeycomb, orange blossom, and is delicately mineral. The palate is a mix of tropical, citrus, and stone fruits that effortlessly glide across the palate with a long and lively mineral finish. Pure class.[AA, 07/2022]
