This is half  Gold plated Buddhist Statues of Manjushree from Patan. The gold is overlaid by the old course of gold plating utilizing mixture Gold. This course of Gold overlaying is known as Mercury Gold Gilding, Fire Gilding, or Fire gold plating which is currently popular. The face of this statue has been painted with gold. Reason for painting the face is to define important attributes of the Manjushri's face, mainly its eyes and lips.  It is believed that  in prehistoric times, Manjushree is the creator of the Kathmandu valley, which was huge lake before the Buddhist saint Manjushree, who used his sword to burst the valley wall and drain from southern part of Kathmandu, chovar.
