Approx. 250 SEEDS. Pastinaca sativa. 100 - 130 days. Annual. Heirloom. Zones 2 - 9. Smooth, white, 10 - 12" straight roots that are tender and sweet. Excellent source of fiber, potassium, folate, and vitamins C and K. Cold tolerant. Sow seeds 1/2" deep 1" apart outdoors 2 - 3 weeks before the last frost date in well-worked, moist, loose soil that has been amended with compost. Keep evenly moist throughout the growing season, especially during germination. Germinates in 14 - 21 days. Thin to 2 - 3" apart when around 1" tall. Use of a row cover helps maintain moisture. Keep well weeded. Full sun. The flavor is best after a few touches of frost. Can be left in the ground for the Winter, covered with a thick layer of mulch. Harvest in the Spring when the ground thaws, digging out before tops start regrowing.
