~200 SEEDS. Nepeta cataria. 80 - 90 days. Perennial. Heirloom. Zones 3 - 9. Not just a stimulant for cats, Catnip is an herbaceous member of the mint family that makes a lovely calming tea for humans! Soft, serrated, aromatic sage-colored foliage with tiny flowers grows and spreads much like mint, so containers are recommended. Catnip tea is minty, fresh, and sweet. Easy to grow, and a beautiful addition to any herbal tea garden or cat lover's yard! The bees love it too! Direct sow seeds 1/4" deep in average soil in the Spring after all danger of frost has passed. Germinates in 7 - 10 days. Water regularly throughout the growing season, taking care not to oversaturate. Full sun to light shade. Thin plants to 12 - 18" apart after true leaves appear. Harvest leaves after plants reach 6 - 8" in height. Cutting the plants down after the first bloom will encourage another flush of regrowth. Grows 1 - 3' tall.
