The Jewish tradition of placing stones on graves dates back thousands of years.  Jews first began marking graves with piles of stones in ancient times as a way to warn passing priests that they should stay back. (It was thought the priests would become “impure” if they came within four feet of a corpse.) Later, the stones served as a way of keeping loved ones’ souls close to the earth, where it would comfort those left behind. In modern times, the stones represent a more lasting symbol of remembrance and legacy as compared to flowers.  Each stone is polished and carved with the word "Remember" or “Zachor” (Hebrew for “Remember”).  You will receive a random stone when purchased. If you would like to state a preference for a light color or a dark color, please do so in the notes in your cart before paying for your order.  Photo shows possible differences in stones. No stone is the same.
