Catrina wears a whimsical hat with flowers and smiles a flirty grin. This sculpture by Armando Ramírez commemorates Mexico's Day of the Dead. The Catrina name refers to death personified who is always dressed in exuberant fashion and colors in order to lure mortals. Always creative, Ramírez recycles castoff auto parts and discarded bits of metal. Wire mesh becomes a broad-brimmed bonnet while thick wire scraps and a cogwheel are transformed into her gown. The face comes from keys. Ramírez does not give his sculptures a fine polished finish, therefore smudges and scratches may be present. Recycled auto parts 1.10 lbs 11 inches H x 6 inches Diam.
