This is an incredible spineless clone of a plant that is rare in collections even in its ‘regular form’. Native to Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil, it is a very full rosette of many narrow, silvery leaves. A rather small and slow grower, it matures at only about 12 inches across. This amazing spineless clone resulted from seed grown from a plant that Wally Berg got from the collection of Elton Leme in Brazil in 1999. A single seedling was completely lacking spines, and has been painstakingly grown and propagated now for about ten years. Luckily, a second, identical clone appeared some years later. An easy to grow species that is quite cold hardy.
