Ideal Quarter Horse ~ Jet Deck (sale for charity)
Jet Deck is an important sire in the Quarter Horse breed, mainly along racing lines. Born in 1960, his future owner famously said, when he first saw (and didn't buy) the horse as a colt: "If that's a racehorse, then I'm going to quit the business." He was, the man didn't quit, and eventually he became part owner in this athletic stallion, who, by then, had grown from a gangly, thin-necked colt into a power house with great conformation. After retiring, Jet Deck began a star-studded career in breeding. Tragically, he was murdered in his pasture at the height of his career in 1971 by someone who apparently drove to the farm and took advantage of his gentle nature, leaving everyone at the farm devastated. The murderer was never caught. He lives on through his progeny that includes Easy Jet and other well-known names. Jet Deck was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 1991.
