Toward the Flaming Skyfor two oboes and English hornby Daniel Paul Davis - American composer i. sunrise/sunset ii. sunset hill iii. toward the flaming sky iv. exuberant raves Inspired by and composed for Melissa Sassaman.  From the composer: Between light and dark, at twilight, daily dog walks and living life in the moment.  Sunset hill is a little nob of a hill on the UNM North Golf Course (Tee-off, Fairway #3). In the morning the sun rises over the Sandia Mountains providing a particularly glorious glow of magnificent colors. In the evening the sen sets over the distant West Mesa with a similarly spectacular display of color. This color or aura is in most of my dreams. I have enjoyed these moments between twilight, the coolness of the summer and autumn evening and the biting frost of  winter. The dogs are energized by their daily excursions which provide them a freedom away from the confines of the home.
