Anderson, Deborah % Romance - 2BSN/PN
Romance, op. 47for two bassoons and pianoby Deborah Anderson - American composer Romance for Two Bassoons and Piano was composed in 2005 for a unique candlelight soiree in the composer's home. A Black Tie event with music from before 1900, champagne and "Old World" refreshments were served; beeswax candles furnished the only light. Bassoonist friends suggested she write a special piece for two bassoons, and in keeping with the flavor of the evening, Anderson composed a piece in a style reminiscent of Johannes Brahms. After a brief piano introduction, the entry note of not one but two bassoons creates an unexpected and magical effect. The three instruments then weave an atmosphere of emotion and romanticism, with frequent changes in tempo and dynamics. Duration: 5:00
