  USDA Certified Organic Beurre Hardy pear trees originated about 1820 in Boulogne, France and named after M. Hardy, Director of Arboriculture at the Luxembourg Gardens. The Beurre Hardy pear tree produces excellent autumn pears with medium to large fruit russeted greenish-yellow. The Beurre Hardy pear has a delicious buttery, melting, flesh with an aromatic rosy scent and is often dripping of juice. The pear trees are very hardy, heavy croppers, resistant to scab and the flowers cope well with late spring frosts. Also referred to as the "French Butter pear."
