Dimensions:  10 x 8.3 mm brilliant barion Clarity:  Loupe Clean Origin: Taita Taveta, Kenya Treatments:  None - Natural Gemstone Faceted By: Scott Maier of Travelers Gems Comments: This shade of green beryl is unique -- I have seen a lot of beryl over the years, and what is usually referred to as 'common green' beryl does not adequately apply here -- the green that this gem was in the rough can only be described as slimer green - like 'ecto cooler' green - the most neon.  There are a lot of very special rich green gems from Kenya - chrome tourmaline, tsavorite, and I am going to add this peculiar shade of green beryl to that list as well.  I am not saying there's chrome in this beryl, but I would not be surprised if the color was being influenced by some interesting colorant-element. This oval is a barion-style /portuguese style blend which makes great use of the depth. This onbe would look amazing as a large pendant - alone, accented with small stones
