Achillo Sullo, Abstract Gouache Painting 1, 1964
Small in scale but expansive in feeling, this abstract gouache by Italian American artist Achillo 'Achi' Sullo explores gorgeous, evocative color. We floated this piece and framed it in simple, crisp white so that its pared down forms and loose brushstrokes would take center stage. A student at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as well as a World War II veteran and D-Day survivor, Sullo explored Impressionism early in his career before turning to abstraction. He's best known for his paintings of simple, organic forms in vivid colors. Another abstract gouache by Sullo is available for purchase separately. This artwork is in excellent condition. It's framed using UV-protectant plexiglass and is marked on the back with the artist's estate stamp. It includes horizontal and vertical framing wires so you can display it any way you choose.
