I have always loved diving watches; they might even be the most popular watches category out there. So of course, came the time when I started looking for the ultimate diving watch. That was about the time where I discovered the Omega Seamaster Ploprof. Its story is amazing. Omega launched this watch in 1970 after more than four years of hard work. They wanted a watch that could withstand extreme pressure from high depths so the legendary Jacques Cousteau and COMEX divers were involved in the testing. Omega tested the maximum pressure the watch could handle and it took 1370 meters (!!!) before a sign of failure. That occurred in the seventies! That's what I call a Toolwatch! This watch can be considered as the first one built solely for the diving professional. How cool is that? It was nicknamed "PloProf" from the french term PLOngeur PROFessionnel (Professional Diver) as the development team from Omega were speaking in french.
