All our necklaces are made out of the rare form of this gem. Hyalite Opal gets its name from the Greek word halos which means glass. Hyalite Opals share mostly the same composition as other opals, specifically in their bodies’ mixture of water and silicon dioxide. However,  they don’t have the same internal mineral structure as the "average" opal -  the inner fire that causes the play of color in precious opals are absent. The rarer Hyalite Opals have a fluorescence, displaying a change in color if placed under short-wave UV light. It’s the presence of uranium that gives the Hyalite Opal it's f
