President Dwight David Eisenhower was arguably the most important figure of the 20th century.  The man known as “Ike” was Texas born and bred before graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and embarking on a military career.  He rose to the rank of General of the Army during thirty years in the Army before receiving the ultimate assignment: Supreme Allied Commander during World War II.  Eisenhower crafted the D-Day battle plan while leading the Allies to victory over Axis powers Germany and Japan.  That would have been the pinnacle of success for most men, but not Eisenhower.  He went on to become the 34th President of the United States, shepherding the U.
